The centre of Redstone is water the community built for itself — Redstone Pond is engineered stormwater, but from the air it reads as a genuine lake with a full ring of shoreline path. From the street the pond is a fence line and a screen of reeds. A listing two streets away cannot prove the water exists, which surrenders the one feature separating Redstone from every other new community along Stoney Trail NE.

Terrain. New-build prairie at the city's north edge — level ground organised into crescents around a central pond, with open farmland still visible beyond the last streets.

Wind. Open chinook country with farmland to the north and no shelter in any direction. West wind arrives at full strength, and gust spread is the number that decides whether the aircraft flies.

Light. Construction and green-up drive the calendar here as much as light does — spring and summer show the young streetscapes at their best, while winter chinooks repeatedly strip the snow. Evening light runs long and low across the level ground.

On the ground. City of Calgary bylaws restrict drone takeoff and landing in municipal parks and on pathways, so Redstone launches are staged from private property with the client's consent. About 20 minutes from the Calgary base via Stoney Trail NE. Easy to pair with Skyview Ranch, Savanna or Saddle Ridge in a single trip.
